Alexander Khalifman is one of the world's leading grandmasters (ranked #14 on the October 2002 FIDE rating list). He was twice Russian Champion (1995, 1996) and has represented Russia in three Chess Olympiads (Manila 1992, Istanbul 2000, Bled 2002).

                                       Khalifman was FIDE World Champion from 1999-2000.
