Yasser Seirawan is four-times US Chess Champion (1981, 1986, 1989, 2000) and has been one of the leading players in USA for over two decades.

Seirawan founded the highly regarded albeit now discontinued chess magazine Inside Chess. More recently, Seirawan helped found American Foundation For Chess - the non-profit group that administers and organizes the annual US Chess Championships in Seattle
